Lost & Damaged Baggage

MISSING/DELAYED BAGGAGE

If your baggage is lost, you should contact lost & found office at the airport with the following documents:

  • The original of your boarding pass
  • The original of the baggage tag
  • ID-Card (Passport, driving licence etc.)

Your lost baggage will be traced for the first 5 days by our contracted Ground Handling Company. During this period, you may contact them at your arrival destination. If your baggage has not been found until the end of this period, it will continue to be investigated by Freebird Airlines Lost and Found Department. In case of missing/late delivery of your baggage, you are requested to apply to Freebird Airlines within 21 days from the date of your travel, with the following information and copies of documents:

  • Property Irregularity Report (P.I.R) of missing baggage
  • Boarding Pass and Bag Tags
  • Value of the baggage and contents (with the invoices...)
  • Bank details, Account holder, Currency, Bank/branch name, IBAN Number (International Banking Account Number), swift-bic code.

Please note that our liability for loss, delay or damage to baggage is limited by international convention. Alternatively, if the contents of your bags have a high value, you might like to consider increasing the amount of your own travel insurance.

DAMAGED BAGGAGE

If your baggage is damaged, you should contact lost & found office and file a written complaint at the airport with the following documents in order to create a damage report:

  • The original of your boarding pass
  • The original of the baggage tag
  • ID-Card (Passport, driving licence etc.)

Passenger must notify the relevant department with the following documents, within 7 days after the irregularity happened.

Please send the requested copies to [email protected] address.

  • Property Irregularity Report (P.I.R) of damage baggage
  • The copy of boarding pass and baggage tag
  • The repair bill or statement accompanied by the purchase receipt
  • If the purchase receipt is not available, please indicate the date, place and price of purchase
  • Photos of the damaged bag
  • Bank details, Account holder, Currency, Bank/branch name, IBAN Number (International Banking Account Number), swift-bic code.

Note: Property Irregularity report must be completed before leaving the airport. If not claimed at Airport (without PIR), complaint will not be accepted.

Important Notice On Baggage Liability

Please note that while every effort is made to handle your baggage with utmost care, FREEBIRD AIRLINES is NOT responsible or liable for the condition of your baggage that results from the following:

  • In cases where a damage report cannot be submitted.
  • Wear and Tear such as minor cuts, scratches, scuffs, dents and marks.
  • Loss or Damage to wheels, feet, handles, locks and pull straps or security straps.
  • Damage to Over-packed and Overweight baggage.
  • Fragile and Perishable items including those that are not adequately packed.
  • Sports Equipment and instruments that are not placed in proper hard casing such as golf clubs and musical instruments.
  • Valuable Items including money, jewellery, precious metals, silverware, antiques, heirlooms, securities, laptops and other electronic items, business documents, passport and other identification documents, product samples, medicines, or medical items.
  • Baggage accepted under the conditions of the "Limited Release" Tag (LRT), including items retrieved or confiscated by the airport authorities or security personnel.
  • If you suspect that the contents of your baggage are missing, you should contact the security forces.

Note: Our airline does not accept any liability if the passengers could not show bag tag number. Courtesy report should be created into WORLDTRACER system

Note: Baggage Irregularity Report( Damage Report-PIR) must be completed before leaving the Airport. In cases where the damage report can not be submitted, there is no right to compensation.

FORGOTTEN BELONGINGS

When you realize that you have forgotten your personal belongings on board during the flight, you should apply to the lost and found offices located at the relevant stations. When forgotten items are found on our airplanes they are recorded. Our Airline is not responsible for forgotten items.

You should apply to the lost and found offices located at the stations to get information about your luggage and personal belongings that you forgot at the departure or arrival airport. You must pick up your forgotten items from the airports yourself.
